Filaments (19) and small fibrous bands (9) are led together by the fibrous bands (9) and twisted, after leaving the consolidation zone (10, 12). The fibrous bands and filaments are led together at a clamping station (10, 16), following the consolidation zone. The filaments are laid directly onto the fibrous bands before twisting, or are run close and parallel to them. Filaments run between two small fibrous bands, before twisting. Two fibrous bands in the consolidation zone are spaced apart and run together in a V-shaped configuration. An independent claim is included for equipment carrying out the method.
