The seat is joined to the floor of the vehicle by a front and rear swinging arms (5,4) and can be pivoted from a sitting position to a stowed position. A torque is fed into the front swinging arm (5) by a coil spring (8), which is tensioned in the locking position of the sitting part and raises the front swinging arm and hence the sitting part (1) when the sitting part is unlocked.
