The remote control includes a base module (10) via which a control signal for controlling a setting parameter of the hearing aid is transmitted based on operation by a user. An expansion module (21) can be releasably connected to the base module for expanding the functionality of the base module. The expansion module may have a receiver for receiving a signal form the hearing aid, and a user perceivable signal is output from the remote control based on the received signal.
