The bolt especially of a rifle (12) is removed and a boring tool (10) is advanced over the stock (14) and through the breach (20). The rifle has a handgrip (22) and a telescope (16). A stop disk on the end of the tool limits penetration into the cartridge chamber and the bore in the barrel (18) as the boring-out process continues. A circular-section shaft with a T-handle on its end enters the muzzle of the barrel and has a hexagonal end plugging into the end of the boring tool in the cartridge chamber.
