The method involves casting a single molding material over one or more running and ingate systems (4) to form at least one part of a cylinder crankcase (1). The molding material can be modified and treated inside the treatment chamber (7) provided in each running and ingate system. Casting iron with laminated graphite, vermicular graphite or nodular graphite can be used as molding material. Independent claims are included for the following: (a) Mold used in producing cylinder crankcase; and (b) Molded cylinder crankcase.
