With a cylindrical lens (2) in a slow-direction plane, beams are focussed by a diode laser stack (1) with three diode laser bars into a planar waveguide (21). The length of the waveguide is selected so that, at an outlet point, a beam has a homogenous intensity distribution, which is pictured on a cylindrical lens array (24) with lenses (22,23).
