Changing of the performance characteristics of a system software controlled device whereby read-protected activation data are encrypted in an alteration file and then transmitted, decrypted and transferred to security hardware

Method for changing the performance characteristics of device controlled using system software that also has allocated security hardware with read-protected activation data. According to the method, the new activation data is encrypted in an alteration file, prior to transfer to the security hardware. The alteration file is remotely transmitted, decrypted and finally transferred to the security hardware.
