A heat regenerable dryer comprises a perforated housing of plastics, metal or wood, filled with loose or bagged adsorbent e.g. silica gel, activated carbon, alumina or zeolite, and also contains a heater. The housing may additionally contain perfume, disinfectant, or fungicide release agent. Regeneration heat may be supplied via mains or accumulator electricity, or from exothermal-chemical reaction : Independent claims are included for; (A) A method of regenerating the adsorbent by thermal, particularly electrical, means; and (B) A method for signalling the need for regeneration by use of an acoustic alarm, or colour change of the adsorbent.
