Cooling of a reactor used in production of hydrogen chloride from chlorine gas and hydrogen gas and a plant for production of hydrochloric acid from the hydrogen chloride, at least part of the acid being used to acidify brine in a connected sodium chloride electrolysis plant, involves using at least part of the brine for indirect cooling of the reactor or of the hydrochloric acid-producing plant.
