The device has a controller with a controlled variable, which is a proportion of air and fuel in cylinders (Z1-Z4) of an impulse load valve (18) and a correcting variable that is a control value for a correction value to control the cylinders. A pilot control finds precontrol values for the correction value based on the control value in a stationary operating condition of an internal combustion engine.
