The device (1) has an array of segment units (6) that are linked to one another through joints (4). The segment units are swiveled around their respective joints so that contact surfaces (9) of the segment units lie flat on one another, where the surfaces utilized for transfer of pressure forces. The segment units are equipped with changing units that allow a positive power change of a drive unit. The segment units are equipped with guiding units that guide a guiding bore. The drive unit is a geared motor either with a corresponding gear wheel or a worm wheel. An independent claim is also included for a window assembly in a motor vehicle.
