The slider has plates (7) for holding a slider body (1) and a slider ring (2) together, and for snapping the slider into respective positions for opening or closing an umbrella. The ring has a recess located in a region outside an umbrella rod (3) for accommodating an additional ring, and a protruding ridge runs around the rod. The plates are bent outwards from the rod, and engage with grooves to increase an inner diameter of the slider. An independent claim is also included for an umbrella comprising a slider.
