Core-shell type gel particles for controllable release of water- organic solvent mixtures consist of (A) a hydrogel core from a lower critical solution temperature (LCST) polymer which is soluble in water-organic solvent mixtures; and (B) a permeable shell from a precipitation copolymer whose monomers are immiscible with the LCST polymer. An independent claim is also included for preparation of the particles involving radical hetero-phase polymerization.
