A host computer (HC) (12) makes image data (ID) available for each frame in a sequence via a serial bus (SB) (10). The ID is extracted from data received via the SB onto an electronic sub-assembly (ESA) (16) connected between the HC and a display device (18). Extracted ID is stored in the ESA's image store to be displayed under the ESA's control. An independent claim is also included for a device for operating a display device by producing a continuously renewed display through sequentially received frames of image data defining one or more pixels.
