Tool (1) for introducing an elongated closing element (2) into a slit of a hose or a pipe, especially a corrugated pipe (4), comprises a base body (8') with a spreading device (9) on its under side for introducing the tool into the slit and spreading the slit. The plow-shaped spreading device has a bow-shaped tip at the front and extends toward the rear side of the base body with a width corresponding at least to the width of the closing element. The base body has a channel- or tunnel-shaped duct that begins on the front side of the base body and ends at the rear side adjacent to the spreading device with an outlet opening (16). The spreading device has on its long edges outward-protruding strips that engage under the edges of the corrugated pipe forming the slit. The lower limiting edge of the outlet opening is lower than the upper edge of the strips.
