Device for determining the angular velocity of a motor vehicle rotating component comprises at least a magnet (1), a sensor (2) and a rotor (4). The magnetic field lines extend from the magnet towards the rotor, pass through the rotor and then return to the magnet over a magnetically conducting connection to form a magnetic circuit. The invention also relates to a corresponding method for determining the angular velocity of a rotating component in a motor vehicle.
