Method for recording toll data for registered vehicles in an automatic toll collection system has the following steps: allocation of a code number for each vehicle, transfer of an acquisition protocol as a PDF file from an acquisition unit to a vehicle, recording of vehicle specific data relating to an intended journey or an intended start point, transfer of the acquisition protocol with the recorded data to the acquisition unit, processing and storing of the data by the latter and calculation of the corresponding toll amount. The invention also relates to a corresponding system for implementing the inventive method.
