The mass flow sensor has a sensor element (22,24), the measuring signal of signal of which is representative for a mass flow (MAF) in a main channel (4), and an additional sensor element (34) installed in a recess of a component connected to the main channel by a coupling element. The coupling element is constructed so that the recess lies in the shelter of the main flow direction of the mass flow in the main channel, and a flow against the main flow direction induces a flow in the recess. The recess is an electronics pocket (28) in the component and in which is installed a signal processing electronic device (26).
