Heat exchanger for keeping polymer at constant temperature before further processing, has an outer vessel with heat exchanger medium, and an inner vessel containing a hollow displacement body with angled flow guides
A heat exchanger (WT) for keeping a constant temperature in polymers passing from a polymerisation reactor to further processing has a surrounding outer vessel containing the WT medium and an inner container with funnel-shaped ends, containing a correspondingly-shaped hollow displacement body with groups of angled flow guides on its outer surface. A heat exchanger (WT) for keeping a constant temperature in polymers being taken from a polymerisation reactor for further processing (optionally via a filter), comprising an outer container (1), an inner container (5) which can be tempered from (1) outwards, a hollow axial displacement body (7) inside (5) which can also be tempered and which (with 5) forms an annular product flow channel (6) with product feed and take-off connections (2, 3), and ducts for the other heat-exchange medium fitted to (7); the inlet end (7') of the axial body (7) matches the shape of a diffuser (8) formed on the inner container in that area. The entire flow path of the WT defined by container (5) and connections (2, 3) is surrounded by the outer container (1) containing the WT medium, the other (downstream) end (5) of container (5) is shaped like a funnel (9) (reversed in relation to the diffuser 8), the downstream end (7) of the displacement body (7) is correspondingly shaped, the body itself is fixed to container (5) with stays (10, 10) which produce no "flow shadows", and flow guides (13) inclined at an angle to the WT axis (4) are fitted round the cylindrical outer surface of the body (7) in groups (13) along the axis, so that flow-through gaps (19) are formed between at least the edges of the guides (13) facing the inner container (5) and the inner wall (5 of the container itself.
