An oil separator is formed as a flow-through tube (10) comprising a worm-like segment (20). An outlet (13) is formed downstream of the flow-through tube, to discharge oil separated from the blow-by gas. A spiral flow path is formed between the thread surfaces (21) of the worm-like segment. The cross-sectional area of the spiral flow path is set between 1-800 mm 2.
