Device for wireless control of a personal computer, especially for multimedia applications comprises a mobile control unit (8) with a display (10), an input unit (9) and a transceiver (11), especially in the form of a mobile telephone, PDA, pocket PC or similar for transfer of control commands to a matching transceiver (12) within the personal computer. Data transfer is via a bi-directional data transfer protocol, e.g. IrDA, Bluetooth or WLAN. The invention also relates to a corresponding method for control of a personal computer using a mobile control unit.
