The waste gas laden with solvent vapor enters a chamber at the top of the thermal recuperative cleaning system. The chamber surrounds the flue for burnt gas (5). The incoming gas is heated by passing it down through a ring of vertical pipes (3) toward a gas burner and a combustion chamber (1). Some of the heated waste gas may pass through holes in an inverted conical part of the burner and may mix with the fuel gas to promote combustion of the solvent vapor. The rising burnt gases (2) are deflected by baffles (4) so as to pass over the vertical pipes.
