A mixture of fluid and air is fed (7) to the ends of a broad spray head (9) covering the entire width of the cylinder or roller being cleaned. It is supplied by pumps (3) drawing fluid from reservoirs (1,2) and feeding it through pressure lines (4) and non-return valves (6) to an intermediate high-pressure line (5). Air is fed through a valve (14) from a high-pressure source (18) to a control module (16) and a non-return valve (20) to mix with the fluid in the intermediate high-pressure line. There is a fluid sensor (24) in the center of the spray head, with an air bleed line (11), a control valve (12) and a low-pressure reservoir (13) for fluid carried over with bleed air. High-pressure air passes through a second valve (15) to a control module (17) and a non-return valve (21). The air passes through an ejector pump (23) to drain the low-pressure reservoir.
