Linked to a connection part, a pin-type shank (4) has a spiral helix (5) as an electrode head attached near an open end on a discharge side. The spiral helix and an encasing coil winding (11) interconnect by means of a distance piece. The coil winding is attached on the connection piece. The spiral helix has six windings of wire. An independent claim is also included for a high-pressure gas discharge lamp with an electrode system.
