The armature has a magnetically conductive armature body (110) with armature slots (111). An H-shaped armature winding (113) has coils (114) corresponding to the slots and assembled from different turns, where chassis middle point of the winding is close to the armature axis. The coils are laid one after the other in series with respect to their sides in the slots and have winding count reduced to one. The armature slots are arranged equidistant over the armature circumference. An independent claim is also included for a method of winding an armature winding of an armature of a direct current machine e.g. direct current small power motor.
