A wheel fastening bolt for a vehicle has a shaft with the bottom section threaded (4) and with the top section under the head smooth to hold a shaped ring (5). The ring is held on the shaft via a grip (8) which prevents the ring from rotating relative to the shaft. The underside of the ring has a profiled shape, e.g. spherical, to grip correspondingly shaped grip surfaces around the bolt holes of the wheel.
