A pentatonic xylophone has a resonance box with top-mounted transverse supports for the tone keys. The xylophone has two keys (14) that are separated by three semitones. The remaining keys are each separated from the neighbour by two semitones. The physical gap between the three-semitone interval is greater than that of the keys separated by two semitones.
