The operation of a gripper loom is set so that, after the insertion of the weft through the shed it is held at the far side, while the gripper is returned to the weft insertion side. The gripper is returned to the start position as the shed is closed so that the laid weft maintains its position in relation to the slay. The drive is a programmable motor with an electronic control.
