The method for the control of a solenoid valve which is closed in the volt-free state, especially a fuel control valve in the fuel supply system of an internal combustion engine, entails opening the solenoid through a pull-in voltage and keeping it in the open position by hold-in voltage. The pull-in voltage and/or the hold-in voltage are determined in dependence upon the operating values of the high pressure fuel pump and/or of the engine. Independent claims are also included for the following: (A) a device for the control of a solenoid valve in especially a motor vehicle by application of the aforesaid control method; and (B) a computer programme product with a programme code to carry out the proposed control method.
