An improved method for producing fibre boards of different thickness, especially MDF using wood chippings and fibres, has a carpet of fibres (2) spread onto a conveyor and passed under spreading rollers (9) and smoothing rollers (10). The two sets of rollers are mounted on separate support frames (13, 14) with each group independently controlled via separate height adjusters (11, 12). This enables the manufacturer to produce boards of different thickness as well as controlling the board quality.
