The practice golfing surface (1), for putting and chipping with a golf club and ball, has a modular structure to give a playing path (59) covered by an artificial grass carpet (61) with a hole and ball catcher (66) at the end away from the striking point with its golf ball supply container (41). The playing path is held up by supports (63a,64a) which can be adjusted to give a variable path topography.
