A linear motor comprises linear displacement member (3) with shared permanent magnet fitted along motion direction of motor. At both sides of permanent magnet are fitted N-pole (5) and S-pole (6) magnetic yokes in such manner as to form row with alternating N- and S-poles. The motor stator (1) is so fitted that it contains number of protruding and depressed sections on surface facing linear displacement member are so formed that their width increases with increasing distance at side of respective N- and S-pole magnetic yoke.
