The centrifugal fan impeller (202) for a heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) fan unit has a first (212) and a second (214) blade carrier, and a number of S-shaped rotor blades (210) installed between the blade carriers. Each of the blades has a trailing edge which with regard to a defined rotational direction of the impeller is curved in a forwards pointing direction. The leading edge of each S-shaped blade is curved inwards with regard to the middle point of the impeller. Independent claims are also included for the following: (a) an integrated heating, ventilating and air conditioning unit (HVAC) fan equipped with the proposed centrifugal impeller; and (b) a HVAC fan with the leading edge of each blade curved inwards with regard to the middle point of the fan impeller.
