A retaining adapter (11) for a current indicator (12) fits on a meter-mounting board in an electric wiring distribution. Fixed inside the adapter, contact pieces when assembled maintain an electrically conductive link with connection elements on the current indicator/meter that controls bridging elements (25) to short-circuit the fixed contact pieces if the current indicator/meter is dismantled.
