The sensor has a paddle disposed partially in an orifice in response to fluid flow directed through the orifice. A support unit positions the paddle partially in the orifice. The support unit (56) has a set of strain gauges (72, 74, 76, 78) that enables Wheatstone bridge (70) to be disposed on a side of the support unit. Anyone of the strain gauge is mechanically stressed in response to the paddle displaced by the fluid flow. Independent claims are also included for the following: (a) a method of sensing flow (b) a fluid sensing device.
