Device for monitoring vehicle tires (1) has tire noise sensors (2b) physically or functionally integrated with velocity sensors (2a) that are allocated to each wheel. The sensors are linked via a bus to a central evaluation unit (5). The invention also relates to a corresponding method for monitoring vehicle tires in which the noise arising from vehicle tires is monitored in terms of frequency under consideration of the tire angular velocity and pressure so that potentially dangerous conditions or failures can be recognized or predicted.
