The device for the flame stabilizing in a burner has a catalyser assembly upstream of the flame (13) and through which flows an air/pilot fuel mixture (4) separate from the air/fuel mixture. The catalyser assembly has at least two stages located in series in the direction of flow, of which the upstream stage (3), or so-called POX catalyser is interspersed by an air/pilot fuel mixture which is partially oxidized in it, and of which the downstream stage (8), or so-called FOX catalyser, is interspersed by a leaner mixture (7) which is completely oxidized to form an inert hot gas flow (9). Independent claims are also included for the following: (A) a method for flame stabilizing in a burner in which the flame is stabilized by an inert hot gas flow at a temperature of at least 600 degrees C; and (B) a use for the device which is for the thermal stabilizing of a homogenous flame forming inside a combustion chamber fired by a burner.
