Base structure (1) for the body of a motor vehicle comprises a floor panel (3) with lateral sills (2), a central tunnel (4), and transverse seat supports (6) in the vicinity of the B pillar (5) between the central tunnel and the sills. The floor panel, central tunnel, sills and transverse seat supports are commonly molded from a one-part steel sheet billet. Different regions have different strengths. The regions with a higher strength are formed by partial hot forming using rollers and/or by quenching and tempering. Sandwich structures (11, 16) are integrated in these regions in the end sections (15) of the transverse seat supports adjacent to the B pillar and in the foot sections (10) of the B pillar lying at the height of the sills. Preferred Features: The sandwich structures are made of a metal foam or aluminum or plastic honeycombs.
