The method involves determining whether a vehicle is in a power-on state, and a damper clutch is being engaged, when the vehicle is in the state. A line pressure duty, determined based on an engine torque, is compensated with a compensation duty determined on based on a vehicle speed and a clutch operation state, when the clutch is engaged under the state. A line pressure is controlled based on the compensated duty. An independent claim is also included for a line pressure control system of an automatic transmission.
