The rod (36) is held in bearings (33,34) in the ends of the hollow drive roller (29). Three longitudinal or very coarse pitch spiral slits (43) extend from near each end of the roller, dividing it into three 360 degree segments (44,46). The central part of the rod has a conical taper (37) and engages conical surfaces on thickened portions at the center of the roller. Longitudinal movement of the rod pushes the surfaces (29) of the segments outward to increase the diameter of the center portion.
