A first Venturi tube (VT) supplies air to a combustion chamber (14). A valve sub-system (80) restricts air flow through first and a second VT. A control device (30) receives input signals from sensors like measurement of fuel/air ratio through a sensor (110) in the exhaust gas, measurement of engine speed (ES) from an ES sensor (112) and measurement of air by an air-quantity gauge (114). An independent claim is also included for a method for controlling an engine with a Venturi tube between a combustion chamber and an air supply.
