Liquid crystal medium based on a mixture of polar compounds with negative dielectric anisotropy contains (a) 2-6-ring compound(s) (IA) with a terminal (substituted) difluoromethoxy substituent and (b) 4-(trans-cyclohexyl)-2',3'-difluoro-biphenyl compound(s) (IB) and/or (c) trans,trans-cyclohexylcyclohexane, 4-(trans-4-(trans-cyclohexyl)-cyclohexyl)-benzene or 4,4'-bis-(trans-cyclohexyl)-biphenyl compound(s) (IC).
