Waste water treatment settlement basin discharge is regulated by variation of upright telescopic pipe

Water is discharged from a waste water treatment system via a siphon pipe that terminates in a final upward vertical telescopic section (5). A water settlement basin is linked to an adjacent discharge basin (13) via a U-shaped siphon pipe terminating in a telescopic pipe (5) under a cover. Water discharges (15) from the discharge basin via e.g. a weir (14). The rate of transfer from the first basin (12) to the discharge basin (13) is regulated by a closure applied to the telescopic pipe outlet.
