A simple solar powered cigarette lighter has a one piece construction with a grip (1) to hold a cigarette and with a focussing lens (3), e.g. double convex, held to focus the sunlight onto the end of the cigarette. The lens frame has a notch (4) which enables the user to align the lighter to focus the sunlight correctly onto the cigarette.
