The cover strip consists of an expanded plastic, lattice or honeycomb material as the base section and is completely or partially enclosed by one or more reinforcing layers, and preferably by a fiber composite material or paper machee. The strip may consist only of the expanded plastic base section which incorporates reinforcing elements. The base section may consist of a natural or synthetic material and not expanded. The base section may be constructed from several parts or layers, whereby the different parts or layers do not necessarily have to consist of the same material.
