The link chain has the individual links or all the links provided with a freedom restriction protection. An element (3) protruding into the cavity (4) of the link is provided in the middle on the sides (2) of the link, reducing the clear inside diameter in the transverse direction on one or both sides. The elements are formed as protrusions or ribs with flanks which gradually run into the chain link at least in the longitudinal direction. The protrusions or ribs are held inside the cavity of the link by plug-in fastenings.
