Arrangement for determining the position coordinates and or dimensions of support surfaces for goods with a minimum resolution comprises: a light source arranged above the position space and imaging arrangement arranged below the surface. The light source is designed so that its light is incident over the whole upper surface with the exception of surfaces on which packaging is supported, whereby the support is at least partially transparent and light transmitted through it is at least partially diffusely scattered and the thickness of the support is thinner than a quarter of the minimum required resolution.
