Mixture of oregano oil and lanolin, useful for control of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus on skin and in the nose

Mixture (A) of the ethereal oil (I) of oregano and lanolin (II), where (I) is up to 50 % and (II), plus necessary preparation agents, is over 50%. ACTIVITY : Antibacterial. No details of tests for antibacterial activity are given. MECHANISM OF ACTION : The carvacol present in (I) interacts with the cell membrane of bacteria, altering its permeability for, e.g. potassium and hydrogen ions, resulting in cell death.
