Spray apparatus comprises a compressed gas cylinder which can be connected to a flask (70) of liquid to be sprayed. The flask is screwed into a bayonet fitting on the spray head which has a lug (120), over which a pin (121) on the flask must be lifted. When this happens a plate on the top of the flask presses against the stem (122) of a safety valve (123) and opens it.
