An adjustable mounting for an optic instrument, e.g. data light gate, has a sprung U-shaped main support frame (10) with one section secured onto a mounting plate (20) and with the upper section carrying the instrument. The free ends of the U-frame are linked by a first spring loaded adjuster (13, 14, 15) while the bottom section of the U-frame has a second sprung adjuster to vary the relative setting on the ground plate.
